Lean manufacturing and standard work course for companies

An applied lean manufacturing course for supervisors, manufacturing engineers, cell leaders and key operators. We work on your own line: we map the value stream, document standard work, shorten model changeovers and design error-proofing devices, with an AI agent between sessions and a DC-3 certificate filed with Mexico's STPS.

Lean manufacturing and standard work course

What is the lean manufacturing and standard work course?

It is a 12-hour program that teaches how to eliminate waste and stabilize the operation with the lean tools most used on the plant floor: value stream mapping (VSM), standard work, kaizen, SMED and poka-yoke. It runs on-site at your plant, live virtual or self-paced, with a DC-3 certificate and an applied project.

What your team will be able to do

Learning objectives observable on the job.

  • See the whole flow

Map the current value stream, identify waste and define a future state.

  • Standardize the work

Document takt, sequence and standard inventory so every shift works the same way.

  • Shorten changeovers

Apply SMED to separate internal and external activities and cut changeover time.

  • Improve without stopping

Design poka-yoke devices and run kaizen events with before-and-after indicators.

Syllabus

Course syllabus

Six modules; each one leaves a deliverable you can apply in your operation.

  1. Lean principles and waste

Value from the customer's view, the eight wastes and how they show up on your line.

    Waste walk
  2. Value stream mapping (VSM)

Current state, cycle times, inventories, information flow and future state.

    VSM of a product family
  3. Standard work

Takt time, work sequence, standard work in process and standard work sheets.

    Standard work sheet
  4. SMED: quick changeovers

Internal and external activities, conversion, parallel work and changeover standardization.

    Changeover procedure
  5. Poka-yoke

Types of error-proofing devices, detection versus prevention and selection by defect.

    Poka-yoke proposal
  6. Kaizen and action plan

Preparing, running and following up a kaizen event, and how to sustain improvements.

    90-day kaizen plan

Who is this course for?

Production supervisors, cell leaders, manufacturing and process engineers, continuous improvement coordinators and key operators at automotive, auto parts and general manufacturing plants. It is also useful for internal logistics and maintenance teams that take part in model changeovers and kaizen events.

02

What changes in the operation after the course?

Up-to-date standard work sheets at every station, waste identified on a value stream map with an agreed future state, shorter model changeovers documented step by step, poka-yoke devices on recurring defects and a first kaizen event with measured results. We assess learning and the progress of the applied project.
